Do Now: Send an email to mirandagt2014@gmail.com with 3-5 things you learned about how money effected your NHD topic

Classwork: Begin researching the politics o fyour time period. Who was in charge? Who was opposed to the leadership? Who agreed with the leadership? How did the conflict or compromise in the politcal sphere effect your NHD topic?

Homework: Read 20 pages in your library book on your NHD topic. If you do not have a book yet, read 20 pages online.

THURSDAY OCT 13

Do Now: Open the Google Doc you started in yesterday's class on Aristotle.

Classwork: Begin researching the economic factors that contributed to your NHD topic. You can try searching for ;

"Economic factors women's sufferage (or John Brown, or Jazz Age, or American Revolution, etc)"
"How did money play a role in the ____________ revolution?"
"did the wealthy contribute to the reforms made by _____________?'

Do Now: Open Google Docs and read the following.

Aristotle: Causes of revolution in politics

Use dictionary.com to define any terms you do not know (qualitative, polity, oligarchy, antagonism)

On your google docs, write about what causes revolutions according to Aristotle. How are the causes different in democracies, oligarchies, and aristocracies?
How does this apply to your NHD topic?

Begin researching the factors that contributed to your NHD revolution.

DO NOW:
Open up Gmail/google docs, easybib.com and freelibrary.org

CLASSWORK:

• Teacher presentation on using freelibrary.org
• Independent practice on finding information and books on the free library site
• Putting a hold a book you need for research (use your pin)
  
• EMAIL mirandagt2014@gmail.com with at LEAST 3 books (TITLE, AUTHOR, CALL #) on your NHD topic
  

Homework:

1. Choose one current event (Jobs death, Occupy Philly, Nobel prize awarded to 3 women, etc) and think about how these events will be seen in 30 years.(DUES TUES OCT 11)
2. Go to the library at check out at least 3 books on your topic (DUE OCT 14)
   

THURS OCT 6

DO NOW: Open up easybib.com and books.google.com

Classwork:

• Presentation/refresher on google books and easybib
• Independent practice finding primary and secondary sources on your topic in google books, and annotations in easybib.

Homework: Go to Free Library if your pin does not work, you need a card, etc

Tues Oct 4 and Wed Oct 5

DO NOW: Open up class blog and gmail/google docs

Classwork:

1. Discuss difference and similarity between revolution and reform movements.
   
2. Read about the Haitian Revolution.
3. Write a summary of what you learned and email/share it with me
   
4. Continue to research your topic.
   

Homework: Come in with an example of a Revolution (NOT American, French, or Haitian) and an example of a Reform Movement (NOT Civil Rights or Women's Rights).

Do Now: Open up your saved webquest /research from last week.

Direct Instruction: Assessment and discussion of revolutions.
